Hello, my name is Jenny Papac and welcome to my Sinus Medicine site. I started this website after my boyfriend suggested I share what I knew with other sinusitis sufferers. Sinus Remedy – The 100% Drug Free and Working Sinus Tips

There are some things that we take for granted when we’re not having a sinus attack, like having the ability to breathe normally out of our nose without mucus pouring down our lips or dripping back into our throat. But it’s real simple, when you’re about to have sinusitis or if you wake up knowing that you will have sinusitis, there are some things you can do to help relieve the pain or reduce it (better than pain killers).

While everyone here may agree or disagree in some of these methods and doubt their efficiency, they are amongst the most common advice that will help alleviate the problem from becoming an infection.

So here are the ones I considered to be common sense:

Drinking Hot Water or Tea

Green tea is my personal choice but hot water works as well. Simply wake up, head straight to the kitchen and set a kettle on or pour out some hot water from a ready made flask. Drink it down nice and slowly while you try to flare your nostrils consistently. It helps to add some flavor to it as it can also be relaxing, a feeling you should have every morning instead of getting annoyed with your sinusitis (Trust me, it helps in relationships).

Massaging your nose and face

Simple and effective, a massage near your nose, T region heading towards your temple is one of my favorite techniques. Simply use a warm face towel to wipe your face thoroughly before taking your index finger and thumb. Squeeze your nostrils shut, swallow deep and then blow out gently. Repeat this for 1 minute before rubbing your fingers along side your nose and kneading it gently till you reach the T zone.

Proceed to wipe your face with a warm face towel again before taking your fingers and kneading the skin just above your eyebrows all the way to the side temples of your forehead. Do this repeatedly till you feel the pressure in your relieve itself or when you feel like you can breathe easier, then continue to breath out through your nose or clear it with the same swallowing and exhaling technique you’ve done earlier. I only do this when I get sinusitis real bad but occasionally I’d do it because it just feels good.

A Bowl of Hot Soup

Like hot water, hot soup does the same effect, except you can add even more ingredients to combat sinusitis and improve your overall health. Adding simple things like garlic, horseradish, ginger, peppers and onions into your soup can not spice up your soup but make it taste good for you in addition to opening up your sinuses.  Although I wouldn’t consider adding just about everything I’ve listed there into one big jumbo broth. Just the ones you can like. Be extra careful with the horse radish though, it’s a bit spicy.

Sinus Decongestant – Proven Ways to Decongest Your Nose Easily & Safely

A sinus decongestant is something that helps to decongest the build up of mucus in your nose (in my case every morning). There are several nasal decongestion drugs that are currently in the market such as Contac Non-drowsy® and Sudafed PE®, but if your sinus is bad, and believe me I mean really bad, then you would know that these drugs only work occasionally and would often dampen your mood if not your consciousness while you’re at work (try falling asleep in meetings).

As such I searched for a sinus infection medication that would work without me having to drop by the drugstore every week or so to get 1 or 2 decongestants and several aspirins to go along with the headaches. So I went looking, and searching all over my local library and the internet for what seem likes weeks on end, looking for some mythical cure it all or maybe a Chinese herbal drug that might do the trick (don’t go down that route).

So here’s a list of things that I’ve tried, proven to work on myself at least, that made sense and were not bank breaking or anything like that to scare me off. I hope you know that finding them wasn’t easy and trying all of them wasn’t fun either.

Steam

One of the most simple sinus decongestant if I ever found one. This one works especially well on a cold day. Just boil some water and put it onto a bowl or low pail that you can place on a table. Take a towel or a blanket, sit yourself down and place your face directly on top of the bowl, if the water was scalding hot, just hold the distance slightly above, close your eyes and cloak yourself with the blanket or towel. Alternatively you can cloak yourself first or get someone to do it for you. Breathe in deep and calm for 5 minutes (at least a few times a day if it is as bad as mine) as you let the steam vapors open up your nasal cavities.

For a more powerful effect, you can add a little bit of eucalyptus oil. It is said to have power antiseptic properties and works as an efficient sinus infection medication. You can also get a humidifier to help humidify the room you sleep in. It acts like the vapor treatment and helps to lessen the effects of the congestion (when you wake up).

Mustard, Wasabi, Horse Radish

I’d say take your pick, but they should work the same way. This will sting I can tell you that, but it also produces a certain nasal reflex that opens up the nasal passage naturally without you having to force it open. Personally this is how I do it. Find a bottle or paste form of either one of these 3 ingredients. One will do, they’re pretty much from the same family so the effects should be similar. I chose wasabi paste (have a thing for Japanese food).

Try to have something ready at breakfast that needs a little zing added to it. Yes you know this is gonna sting but like I said, it’s got to be done. I chose light crackers. Swipe it at the wasabi, eat it, let the feeling work its way up to the nose and your brain, as that is happening, remember to get a towel or tissue ready and breathe or blow out of your nose if possible. If it isn’t working, up the dose or tilt your head forward. It’s quick but it ain’t easy.
